Ok well this is my 1st attempt at writing a blog. We are getting ready to start a small group and we're going to study the book of James. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to start a blog and actually have something to blog about.
Our 1st get together is going to be Wed Feb 4th. I am excited to say the least. This is the 1st time that we have ever facilitated a couple's group. I wasn't even sure I would ever get Paul back into a couple's group let alone facilitate it. Let me give you some background on why this is so major.
A few years back not long after we started attending Hope church, we entered into a couple's group with several couples. The group was amazing. I believe we both grew so much from that group. One by one the members of the group moved away. The leaders of the group were the 1st to move, and once they left the group itself fell apart, rather then continue with the study without them, we all kind of drifted. Some of the couples went on to be a part of other groups, some went on to do nothing (like us). It was hard. Paul is not one to openly share, so when he took part in the group and actually shared it was a major milestone, and I knew finding a new group would be tough.
Ok so as time goes by, I keep asking about us getting into another couple's study, and there was always a reason why it wouldn't work. Any way for some time I had been thinking about us leading a study, or at least hosting one at our home. Finally I mentioned it to Paul, and his response was sure - lets do it. Huh??? You could've knocked me over with a feather! Believe me I wasted no time in finding other couples who were interested and finding a topic. So this brings us to current day - one week before our study is set to start. I am nervous, but also excited to see how God is going to grow each of us. I am excited to get closer with the other couples & praying that it is a meaningful experience for all of us.
Ok as I close out my 1st attempt at blogging, I leave with my mind on the future, and on God - what a way to close out.
